Colorado Review is pleased to announce that final judge Robert Boswell has selected Angela Mitchell’s story “Animal Lovers” as the winner of the 2009 Nelligan Prize for Short Fiction. Mitchell receives $1,000, and her story will appear in the fall 2009 issue of Colorado Review.

Angela Mitchell is an MFA student at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. An eighth-generation native of southern Missouri, she now lives in St. Louis with her husband and sons. This is her first published story.
